Bahia Cabana Condo Hotel
The Bahia Cabana Beach Resort, a long time hot spot along Fort Lauderdale beach since the early 70’s may undergo a huge transformation into a modern new high-rise hotel/condo with dining, stores and a marina if the proposal from the owner is approved.
The Bahia Cabana as it exists today is a 70-room hotel and marina complex and popular spot for locals and tourists for decades. The Bahia Cabana restaurant has amazing deck views of the Marina overlooking hundreds of yachts, boats, and sailboats. Randolph Equity, a real estate development and capital firm based in Fort Lauderdale, is proposing:
- A 196-room hotel and a luxury 112-condominium complex on Bahia Cabana’s site at 3001 Harbor Drive and two nearby parcels at 1001 and 1015 Seabreeze Blvd.
- A restaurant, retail and art galleries as well as a marina with transient docking and over-water dining options.
- Pedestrian pathways and plazas along A1A and the Intracoastal Waterway.
Bahia Cabana Condos & Hotel, Not Yet!
The Bahia Cabana Condos and Hotel have a long way to go and a few complications before construction can begin. A land swap with the city of Fort Lauderdale for the two Seabreeze Boulevard parcels in exchange for a 0.38–acre lot it owns just west of Bahia Cabana must first take place before ground can be broken.
By facilitating the Bahia Cabana Condos and Hotel, the city would end up owning and operating a 150 parking space garage, a $4.5 million fire station to replace the existing one, complete with an observation deck and fire boat.
“This project would not only have an incredible impact on the local economy and job creation, but also on overall community enhancement and quality of life in Fort Lauderdale as a whole,” Adam Sharif, CEO and founder of Randolph Equity.
“There are benefits through improved public safety with a new fire station and enhanced quality of life as residents are better able to access and enjoy the beach amenities.”
The Bahia Cabana Condos and Hotel project is estimated to generate more than $100 million in economic impact and hundreds of permanent jobs. The redevelopment project is estimated to cost roughly $160 Million.
The new Bahia Cabana Condos and Hotel certainly looks impressive, especially when compared with the existing hotel and marina. Unfortunately it will be some time before everything comes together as this is just the initial talks of the proposed plan. (4/9/2015)
