The Idlewyld neighborhood is a section of the area known as the Las Olas Isles, in Fort Lauderdale. Idlewyld contains primarily single family waterfront homes. However, there are a few Condominiums located directly on Las Olas Blvd. and Sunset Dr. The single-family homes are separated from the rest of the neighborhood with guard gates. Of all of the neighborhoods in the Isles, the IdleWyld Neighborhood gives off that small, home-town neighborhood charm. There is an equal mix of Waterfront homes and non Waterfront homes. The homes in Idlewyld range from quaint 2 bed 2 bath homes all the way to 6 bed/ 6 bath+ Luxurious Estate Homes. Many of the luxury homes in this neighborhood are waterfront homes along the Intracoastal waterway, Canals, and Sunset Lake. Idlewyld non-Waterfront homes are selling from the $1 million range. Waterfront homes can be be found from around $2 million. The homes that are along the Intracoastal (most eastern section) have Idlewyld drive between the home and the boat dock. To be exact, a 80’s movie! A Home in Idlewyld was used in the 1986 film Flight of the Navigator. The home still exists today and is relatively unchanged. Other areas in Fort Lauderdale and Broward county were also used as filming locations for the movie, including some in Miami. The home in Idylewyld is featured in the beginning and end of the movie and is the residence of the main characters. A home just off Hollywood Blvd near the Intracoastal was used as the “alternate reality home” tor the main characters home in the movie. Various neighborhoods of Fort Lauderdale and the City can be seen throughout the film. A home of “a friend” in the movie was filmed in the current, Lauderdale Isles, west of I95. Thist Disney, 80’s classic stars Joey Cramer, Sarah Jessica Parker and Paul Reubens.

The neighborhood is accessible from Las Olas Blvd and includes Idlewyld Drive, Poinciana Drive, Sunset Drive and the eastern side of Riviera Isle Drive. The Idlewyld neighborhood is perfectly located just across the Intracoastal from Fort Lauderdale Beach.
