History of Seven Isles

Seven Isles Drive has a unique history and was part of the early 1920’s land boom. Dredged by W.F Morang, the Seven Isles were originally called the Lauderdale Isles which is not associated with current “Luaderdale Isles” of today’s Riverland Village. As part of the promotions to sell the land, Morang built massive 40ft high twin columns as a gateway to the new development. Unfortunately the Florida land boom ended quickly after the September hurricane of 1926. The hurricane toppled the twin columns. The eastern column still remains with help from the residents of the neighborhood. It has since been given historic designation status.
